Why Tocane?

So, how did we come to be in a relatively out-of-the way place like Tocane St-Apre?

A couple of years ago we were in the Field Violin Workshop, talking to our violin-maker friends Jerry and Jutta Field. They told us about how they had gone to the Rencontre Musicale Irlandaise, a four-day Irish music workshop. The list of instructors over the years looked great. Plus, it was in France; how can you beat that? We both made a mental note.

Thus primed, this event in Tocane was in our trip plans from the very beginning. The other "must-do" event came at the end of the trip—the Lorient Festival Interceltique.
