Téada

Tune in to Chicago's WFMT (98.7FM) for an in-studio concert by this
great group on the "Folkstage" program. For those involved with WFMT
(or interested in same), the web site says:

"To attend WFMT's live broadcast Folkstage concerts in our studio, you
must join the WFMT Fine Arts Circle for one year at $200 per person and
request Folkstage as your thank-you gift. We ask that you join during
one of our fundraising 'Thons in April or November, during the time
Folkstage or The Midnight Special is being broadcast. (We will accept
memberships at other times during the 'Thon by prior arrangement.) We
present approximately 22 live studio concerts per year, although we
make no guarantee of the total number. Under no circumstances do we
sell admissions to individual concerts. You must subscribe for the
year to attend."

The most far-ranging band with Irish roots out there. Traditional
instruments, electric instruments, world percussion, Rónán Ó Snodaigh's

prominently. If the phrase "world music by Irish people" doesn't
scare you then you need to check them out.

Tannahill Weavers

Except for the ever-shifting highland bagpipe slot, the Tannies have
had the same lineup for quite a few years now. With stable
membership and a consistent musical approach you know exactly what
you're going to get from these guys, and it's good: tight instrumental
sets and gorgeous Scottish songs. The highland pipes, flute, fiddle,
guitar, bouzouki standard formula will sound familiar--it's a formula
they helped establish.

Some publicity for this event still says it's September 19th, but that's
obsolete info. The October 3rd date has been confirmed.
